I think that media brings us certain gifts (ways of seeing and understanding), but I also think that there’s a price to be paid. It’s extremely manipulative. I think there’s a degree of terror in it all. . . . I don’t mean that it’s something that we necessarily shy away from. . . . There can be a profound pleasure in all of it.
